building on the mission statement that was ferdinger�s debut album �gelände�, comes �abbild�, a 4 track ep and the second release on his life in patterns label. the tempos are tweaked up and the sounds are honed and angled for maximum effect. �gegendämmerung� is straightforward but manages a lyrical tilt, while �spiegelreflex� oscillates between moments of dry precision and epic dreaminess. with �abglanz� the newly paris based producer brings things back to the geological strata that characterized �gelände� - but now with a rawer edge and more reflective surface. glos� remix of �gegendämmerung� provides ambient and analogue textures, finishing the ep on a more introverted and melancholic note whilst maintaining the mechanistic drive of the other pieces.

tatu metsätähti and tatu peltonen formed their electro duo mr velcro fastener in the small town of turku, finland back in 1995. in 1999, after a couple of twelve inches, they released their first full length album �lucky bastards living up north� on i220, which was well noted (not only for its hyper colourful cover art by the designers republic). the album took the duo touring in europe and overseas, and led to further releases on labels like stars-music, ali b�s air recordings, solina records, cyber dance and of course billy nasty�s electrix, as well as remixes for the likes of hardfloor, marco carola, dk8, transparent sound and aux88. returning to electrix with their third full ep for the label (and a gap of 13 years!) they have delivered their own unique and recognizable electro sound with two new cuts. �a monster in two worlds� with its electro-funk sound, classic vocoded vocals and grinding groove is a perfect opener, while �bakteriofag� (bacteriophage in english) like its name, creeps up like a virus, infecting the senses with its crisp and shining melody. additionally, there�s remixes of �a monster in two worlds� from silicon scally (carl finlow in his electro guise) and m-twelve (the new moniker recently launched by billy nasty and surface�s nick dunton) to complete the line-up.

the songs, the words, the melodies in this album, they all matter to me because they represent the real time outworking of my own trauma, pain and discovery of joy and peace. but there is a life inside this record equally important to all of the above, which is also trying to be communicated. it�s almost like how listening to a song in a foreign language doesn�t hinder you from absorbing what the song is communicating. in listening closely as i expose myself to myself, that is where the art is. maybe every time we have the courage to unabashedly be true in ourselves, the courage to do the same is received by someone else.

born in munich, sebastian schnitzenbaumer aka belp partially grew up on the seychelles islands off the coast of east africa. educated in classical piano, those two gravitational poles, european and african influences, became the basis for his musical development. having travelled extensively with a closer connection to london over the years, belp kept his base in munich, becoming part of a small alternative scene questioning the predominantly rich and posh surface of the city. blending jazz, dub and noise, an emphasis on darkness in his broken beat oriented works evolved as a reaction to a rather hedonistic society preferring warm and uplifting sounds.
